Renny Young takes us back to the glory days of Dinner Key Marina and the CG Sailing Club. He was born at the Biltmore Hotel when it was an army hospital and graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1963. His mom and dad were founding members of the coconut grove sailing club in 1946. Incidentally, his great uncle was Johnny Gruelle, was the originator of the famous Raggedy Ann Doll. The monthly meeting of the Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade historical society takes place at 2pm at the Coral Gables Museum, followed by refreshments and social time.

Enjoy a lecture by Casey Picket on this historic neighborhood. Point View in the Brickell neighborhood was an affluent subdivision located in Miami’s Gold Coast. Cultivated and platted by Locke T. Highleyman from 1912 into the early 1920s, the Point View subdivision was where the magnates of the Gilded Age chose to build their winter estates. In addition, it was the location that wealthy Miami pioneers built their homes and raised their families.
