Captured On Camera: Quick Takes of Historic Miami-Dade
A Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade historical Society program on the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives. Presented by Archives Director Rene Ramos and Public Programs Coordinator Kevin Wynn.
| From the sands of Miami Beach to the wetlands of the Everglades, from farmer’s fields in South Dade to millionaire’s mansions in Coral Gables, film and video cameras, wielded by TV reporters and vacationing amateurs, have captured vivid South Florida scenes for more than a century.|
| This narrated screening features a selection of rare and sometimes forgotten historical moments, captured on film and video and preserved by the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives.|

| Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade member Barbara Ann Koesy passed away at home on Monday, November 1, 2021. She was an active member who attended most meetings when our historical society met at the Central Christian Church.|
| Born January 11, 1935 to Lola and Szilard Fred Koesy. Barbara was the youngest of seven siblings. She graduated from Miami High Class of '53 and the University of Miami with a B.S. in Education and a Masters of Political Science.|
| Barbara was a Flight Attendant for Eastern Airlines for 30+ years and taught for Miami Dade Public Schools. She was active in the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Miami High Alumni Association and the Eastern Airlines Silverliners. Barbara was also a dedicated poll worker. She attended Central Christian Church in Coral Gables where she sang in the choir.|
| Visitation was Saturday, November 6 at the Van Orsdel Funeral Home Coral Gables Chapel, 4600 S.W. 8th Street. Burial was at Graceland Park North, 4420 S.W. 8th Street.|

| The Miami Pioneers is Dade County’s legacy historical organization, originally founded in 1936 by prominent settlers and business leaders who arrived in Miami in the pioneer era before the year 1900. The Natives of Dade was incorporated in 1986 by a group of local history enthusiasts born in Dade County. The groups merged on July 8, 2002.|
