Saturday, October 14 at 2pmMiami — Wilderness Outpost To Vibrant Metropolis | | The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade historical society welcomes Casey Piket, of the the Miami History Channel for an engaging presentation on the evolution of early Miami.
Since its inception, the City of Miami has evolved from a wilderness outpost to vibrant metropolis that continues to reinvent itself with each passing decade. The center of the city, and its most important thoroughfare, Flagler Street has also evolved over the past 127 years. Join avocational historian Casey Piket as he presents a virtual walk down Flagler Street through the years from Biscayne Boulevard to the Dade County Courthouse. The presentation will share historic photographs and the stories of the Magic City’s most colorful characters and iconic architectural heritage.
Casey Piket, with deep roots in Miami, developed an interest in researching and writing about Miami’s history. He started the Miami-History Blog in 2012 and maintains several social media sites to share and engage those interested in Miami and South Florida history. Casey and Dr. Paul George have worked together to create compelling video content for the Miami History Channel, entertaining and educating the Miami History Channel members of a place that the founders cherish.
