Hello MPNOD member,
Here is a fresh update from the Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade Historical Society

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Don't forget to save the date for next Sunday - 2pm at the Gables Museum.

Sunday, December 1 at 2pm - Holiday Gathering

The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade Holiday Party
Please join your fellow Miami Pioneers, Natives of Dade and friends as we gather to celebrate the holidays at the Coral Gables Museum from 2 to 3:30pm

Please bring a pot luck dish to share for the holiday meeting.

On Sunday, December 1st, we’ll gather at the Coral Gables Museum at 2pm to celebrate the end of the 2019 with a pot luck feast with our fellow members and friends. Please feel free to invite a neighbor, a relative or a friend to join us.

We have much to be thankful for this season. We’ve had many fine guest speakers, and we have more in store in the coming months. Our members have enjoyed some quality time together learning about local history and interacting with each other and our presenters.
In the coming months, we’ll start accepting nominations for awards to be given out at our June 3rd meeting before the summer break.

The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade “Champions Of Local History” Awards will recognize those persons and groups that our members feel most deserve our acknowledgment and respect for the historical work they’ve done in our community.
Annual Dues

Historical Society Members:
If your dues on not up-to-date...

We ask that all members -- if you have not already done so -- pay their $20 annual dues at this time. Also, if you wish to receive the printed and mailed version of the newsletter, please add an additional $10 to cover the cost. Bring the payment to the next meeting, or mail to our treasurer: Marlene Carlin at 14900 SW 71 Ave, Miami, FL 33158.
Guest Speaker Jeff Blakley Receives Appreciation

Guest Speaker Jeff Blakley Receives Certificate of Appreciation

Our November guest speaker offered a wonderful presentation on the manner and methods he uses to research his articles about the history of South Dade. It's obvious that Jeff is dedicated to his mission of uncovering the details of many lesser-known aspects of local history, including minorities, women and regular working class folks who came to South Florida a century ago. Read more about Jeff's research and articles at his Historic South Dade web site.

As always, let's share the love of local history with family and friends. Bring a friend, a neighbor or a family member to the next meeting at the museum.
