John Bachay, the history of Miami Shores
The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade are pleased to welcome John Bachay with a presentation on Miami Shores.
John describes the history of Miami Shores:
- from pioneer times as the community of Biscayne circa 1870
- the homestead era, the Boom of the 1920s
- the Shoreland Company’s vision for a planned city
- its incorporation as the Village of Miami Shores in 1932
John Bachay is a local historian and city guide as well as the archivist for Brockway Memorial Library in Miami Shores. He has been involved for many years in Historic Preservation. He has served on the Historic Preservation Board in Miami Shores, is a board member at the Miami Design and Preservation League and Dade Heritage Trust. He is a city guide conducting historic and architectural tours in Miami Beach, the Mimo District, and Miami Shores.
