We welcome our good friend and advocate for historical preservation Christine Rupp, Executive Director of Dade Heritage Trust, for a review of trust projects, accomplishments, noteworthy news and updates on the work of Dade County’s premier historical preservation society.

Currently, Dade Heritage Trust is working on a number of educational initiatives to encourage people to learn about where they live and understand the importance of preserving places that are symbols of Miami’s architectural, environmental and cultural heritage.

Dade Heritage Trust offers these community programs: Historic Places, Green Spaces, a K-12 educational program; Baking in Historic Places, Miami Urban Bike Tours, Brickell Walks and Talks and a Historic Downtown Miami walking tour app.

In addition, Dade Heritage Trust has received funding from Miami-Dade County to preserve naturally occurring affordable housing and preserve historic apartment buildings in Little Havana.

Dade Heritage Trust is also a chief organizer for the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2020 Past Forward Conference coming to Miami this October.

Upcoming DHT events include the April 2 Annual Meeting at the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove, May 2 Baking in Historic Places at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, the May 14 Preservation Today Magazine Launch in Allapattah, in addition to monthly bike and walking tours.

The monthly meeting of the Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade historical society takes place at 2pm at the Coral Gables Museum, followed by refreshments and social time.
